Find any 234- phone number in Ohio
The 234 area code is an area code in the North American Numbering Plan that is assigned to the state of Ohio. The North American Numbering Plan is a system used to assign area codes, prefixes and phone numbers across the North American continent. As the region requires more phone numbers, additional area codes are created.
The 234 area code was created in 2000 when it was split off of the 330 area code. A population increase in East Ohio necessitated the addition of two new area codes and the existing area code of 330 was split into two distinct regions, with the eastern portion of the state designated as the 234 area code. Telephone numbers in the 234 area code are now located in eight counties in Ohio, including Mahoning, Portage, Stark and Summit. The cities included in this area code include Akron, Canton, Youngstown and Warren. The 234 area code has seven prefixes and is overlaid to the 330 area code, meaning that both codes are used for the same geographic area and new numbers will be assigned for both area codes.
