Find any 363- phone number in New York
The 363 area code is the newest addition to the North American Numbering Plan Area Codes that includes the New York metropolitan area. The area code was introduced on June 7, 2021 as part of an implementation plan by the New York State Public Service Commission, who is responsible for assigning area codes. The 363 area code is considered an 'overlay area code', which means that it covers the same geographic area as the existing area codes of 212, 917, 646, and 332. With the introduction of the 363 area code, residents in the New York City metropolitan area can now make calls to, and receive calls from, numbers in different area codes without having to dial an area code or 1- prefix.
The North American Numbering Plan (NANP) is a system that allocates area codes throughout the United States, Canada and some Caribbean countries. In the NANP, each area code is assigned a 3-digit number and is divided into smaller geographic regions, known as NPA-NXX codes. These numbers, along with a central office code and a station code, are necessary to initiate a phone call. Because of the large population of the New York metropolitan area, the 363 area code was implemented to ensure that enough new numbers are available for the area. This new area code will allow consumers and businesses in the area to have access to additional phone numbers, which will in turn facilitate communication, commerce, and growth opportunities.
