Find any 478- phone number in Georgia

The 478 area code is an area code of the North American Numbering Plan, a system created to designate designated geographic regions over which area codes are assigned. This area code covers a geographically complex region of the US state of Georgia and serves a portion of the central and southwestern regions, including the cities of Macon, Warner Robins, Milledgeville and Dublin.

The North American Numbering Plan is jointly administered by the United States and Canadian governments and has been in place since the 1940s. Forty-four states, five Canadian provinces, parts of the Caribbean and a handful of other regions participate in the use of the plan. It is composed of a plan of three-digit area codes that are assigned to specific areas of the participating regions – area codes followed by a set of seven-digit numbers that designate individual telephone numbers. Each area code is carefully assigned to ensure that there are enough numbers for all the residents in a certain area and so confusion in regards to the phone numbers is avoided.
