Find any 505- phone number in New Mexico

The 505 area code is among one of the many area codes that have been designated to New Mexico by the North American Numbering Plan (NANP). This area code serves Albuquerque and its surrounding areas, as well as all of the state's northwestern region. It was one of the original area codes established by the NANP in 1947, even before New Mexico achieved statehood in 1912. The area code 505 also covers Rio Rancho, Taos, Santa Fe, and Roswell.

In order to ensure a balanced reference to subscribers, NANP periodically implements population-influenced area code splits and overlays. This means that two area codes can call the same geographic region. The 505 area code is closely associated with Regions II, III, V, and VII of the North American Numbering Plan, which is a comprehensive geographic numbering plan for the United States and Canada maintained by the Federal Communications Commission. This area code is reserved for the same region exclusively and will remain part of the NANP till an overlay or split is required.
