Find any 519- phone number in Ontario
The 519 area code is part of the North American Numbering Plan system, which is an assignment system for telephone numbers in Canada, the United States and 18 Caribbean nations. The 519 area code includes a portion of Southwestern Ontario, including London, Waterloo, Windsor and the surrounding towns and cities. Created in 1953, 519 covered the entire province of Ontario and was split in 1953 and again in 1993.
The North American Numbering Plan assigns geographic areas a three-digit area code as part of a larger seven-digit local telephone number. The five-digit telephone number is composed of a central office code and station number. These numbers are regulated by the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC). The plan eliminates the need to dial a long-distance or international number each time a call is made between different local calling areas. Area codes are used to route incoming calls to the proper destination location.
