Find any 609- phone number in New Jersey
The 609 area code is an area code used to designate phone numbers in much of New Jersey. This area code was created in 1958, when it was split off from the original 201 area code. It covers the southern, central, and coastal regions of New Jersey including the cities of Trenton, Cape May, Atlantic City, and Princeton.
The 609 area code is part of the North American Numbering Plan (NANP). The NANP is responsible for the assignment of area codes and phone numbers for the United States, Canada, and some Caribbean countries. All area codes are three digits long and are grouped in blocks of thousands. By splitting up the blocks of numbers, new area codes are added as demand increases. The NANP has been in effect since 1947, providing numbering services for over 70 years.
