Find any 626- phone number in California
The 626 area code is the telephone area code for some of the cities and communities in the San Gabriel Valley in Los Angeles County, California. The 626 area code is part of the North American Numbering Plan (NANP), and it is one of the original area codes assigned to California in 1947. According to the plan, each geographic area is assigned its own unique three-digit code.
The 626 area code is composed of the San Gabriel Valley cities of Alhambra, Pasadena, Arcadia, Monrovia, and San Gabriel, as well as unincorporated areas. It also includes some small towns like La Cañada Flintridge and Sierra Madre, which were originally under the 818 area code. In the late 1990s, 626 was split away and it has been the same since then. Consumers in the 626 area code are required to use a seven-digit dialing format for local calls, and 10-digit dialing for long-distance calls.
The North American Numbering Plan is also called the NANP, and it was established in 1947 by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). The NANP divides the U.S., the Caribbean, and Canada into 84 regions, each with its own three-digit area code that can be used to connect any phone in the region. All NANP area codes are uniformly three digits long, with the first number ranging from 2 to 9, and the second and third numbers ranging from 0 to 9. The NANP assigns area codes to telcos (telephone companies) and other telephone service providers within its 84 geographic areas. This means that when a consumer dials a number in the 626 area code, the call gets routed to the right telco or telephone service provider in the San Gabriel Valley.
