Find any 762- phone number in Georgia

The 762 area code is designated for the state of Georgia, as part of the North American Numbering Plan (NANP). This plan is used to assign unique telephone numbers across the United States and Canada, and it has been in place since 1947. The 762 area code encompasses 14 counties in North Georgia. It stretches from Stephens County in the northeast, all the way down to Laurens County in the south. Included in the 762 area code are the cities of Athens, Marietta, Toccoa and Albany.

This area code was created in 2000 when Georgia split the area code for its midsection. At this time, it was assigned to the central and southwestern portion of the state. However, in 2015 the Federal Communications Commission approved the overlay of area code 470, forming a new system of overlay codes in the state of Georgia. This new system would require all calls made to the 762 area code to include the area code, regardless of location. This overlay plan is expected to be activated and in full operation by 2021.
