Find any 778- phone number in Alaska
The 778 area code is a region of the North American Numbering Plan (NANP). NANP, also known as the NANP Area Code, is an integrated telephone numbering plan, administered by the North American Numbering Plan Administration (NANPA). The 778 area code is used in the Canadian province of British Columbia. This region was formerly served by the 604 area code, but in June 2001 it was split into two area codes. The 778 area code was created to serve the Metro Vancouver and Lower Mainland regions, while the 604 area code continues to serve the Fraser Valley and the Peace Region.
The territory served by the 778 area code covers much of the lower mainland, and includes the city of Vancouver, Victoria, and Squamish. It also encompasses the islands of Vancouver, Salt Spring, Galiano, Mayne, and Texada. All phone numbers in the 778 area code must be dialed with the ten-digit full national number format, including the area code and the seven-digit subscriber number when making calls within the NANP. Additionally, any local calls between the 778 and 604 area codes require both the area code and the subscriber number to be dialed.
