Find any 940- phone number in Texas
The 940 area code is a telephone numbering plan designated for the North American Numbering Plan (NANP). This area code is assigned to the state of Texas in the United States and covers over 12,200 square miles. It was originally established in 1997, when the 817 area was split to form 940. The 940 area code serves cities and towns such as Wichita Falls, Denton, the western fringes of the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex, and the eastern suburbs of the Monterrey-Laredo Metropolitan Area.
NANP is a unit of telecommunication administration in parts of the world, including Canada, the Caribbean, the United States and some parts of the Pacific Islands. It oversees the allocation and administration of telephone directories, area codes and telephone numbers to facilitate the coordination of international telephone calls. Additionally, it regulates the billing structures for North American and international telephone service. The NANP assigns three digits of area codes and seven digits to each phone number, following the hypothesis that "large cities surrounded by small towns" should not have a single area code. Among others Texas possesses two others area codes 512, and 210, not only serves the purpose of regulating phone numbers but also keeps the ease in finding financials, telco providers, and other services.
