Find any 948- phone number in Virginia
The 948 area code is a North American Numbering Plan (NANP) area code used in the Commonwealth of Virginia. It recently went into service on October 18, 2020, when the former area codes 434 and 540 were split in two, with 948 assigned to the eastern half of the combined area. This area code covers much of the central portion of the state including the cities of Richmond, Charlottesville, Danville, and Harrisonburg.
The NANP system is used for numbering telephone exchanges for the United States and its territories, Canada, and some Caribbean countries. It is divided up into what are known as Numbering Plan Areas (NPAs) for the purpose of assigning telephone numbers. Each NPA area code consists of a three digit number, with a range from 200–999, and indicated geographic boundaries representing a phone’s service area. NPAs are organized in an efficient manner, allowing nearby regions to share the same area codes. Additionally, the fact that area codes are portable meaning that they can be moved around in order to better serve a population’s needs.
