Find any 989- phone number in Michigan

The 989 area code is one of 81 area codes that are used in the North American Numbering Plan (NANP). It covers the east central part of the U.S. state of Michigan, including the cities of Saginaw, Midland, Bay City, and Owosso. The 989 area code was implemented in 1999 and it was created from a split of the old 517 area code.

The North American Numbering Plan is a system for assigning telephone numbers that divides the United States and most of Canada into number plan areas (NPAs). In the NANP, an area code is a three-digit code, in the form “NXX”, that is assigned to a geographic region, or a very large city. Each area code can contain up to 7.9 million telephone numbers, which can provide telephone service to several thousand customers in the area. All area codes must be accompanied by a three-digit central office code and four-digit line number. The structure of the system helps to identify the service provider and billing jurisdiction for any given number.
